Glock adapter for PC Carbine

Hey all,

I recently bought a PC Carbine. I only have the one Ruger magazine for now, and it's only 10-round due to state limitations. I watched instructions on how to install the Glock mag adapter and it seems easy enough, but I'm wondering if it's necessary. I definitely want to buy a couple extra magazines to avoid wasting time at the range, but debating if I should stick with Ruger or commit to Glock.

Any advantages to Glock mags other than availability?

The advantages are definitely availability, as well as cost. Glock mags are cheaper.

Reliable Magpul Glock magazines are cheap and available everywhere. That’s what I use in my PC Carbine.

I kept mine as is, using Ruger magazines. I have two Security 9's which take the same mag, and don't have any Glocks.
As far as the carbine itself, mine has been accurate and reliable with many different 9mm factory loads. I've shot 115, 124, and 147 grain bullets, and the 147 grain loads shoot best in it.

FWIW, I traded into a Ruger 9mm carbine back during the China virus, and went with Glock mags because they seemed more available at affordable prices, at that time. Since then, I've picked up a Ruger Security 9 compact, and I've also
had good luck finding Ruger factory 9mm mags cheaper than Glock mags on GunBroker. I've actually been thinking wbout switching back to the SR carbine magwell, and giving my Glock mags to my nephew. Looking back, I should have just stuck with Ruger mags!

As always IMHO, YMMV, FWIW, etc., etc.

I went through ~100 rounds today with the Glock mags using S&B and Federal 115-grain ammo; no issues with either, and it was a blast. Once I got the optic (Romeo5) dialed in, my groupings were tight at 10 yards. Not so much at 25 yards, but not horrible.

If this thing didn't use glock mags, they probably still would not be making it. But what ever you have the most mags or mags you want to use.

In a review I did read on person who had an issue with ruger ,mags, but that doesn't really mean anything. Use the mag you want, and test it out.

I ran across a video on the interwebs that went into detail about potential issues with using glock magazines in the PCC's. Im not saying this is a thing but... the video was convincing enough that I decided to stick with the Ruger steel magazines so I bought a bunch of those. If push comes to shove, ive got ALOT of glock mags so I may use them down the road but for now im using the metal ruger Security 9 mags and havent any issues at all.

Since I have a Glock 19X pistol I put the Glock magazine device in my PCC 9 and no problems at all. Smart marketing idea by Ruger for would imagine more Glock pistols in hands of users than any other brands???

All I can offer is: there's a fair amount of variation among the makers of GLOCK mags. I use an AR 9 PDW with Glock AR lower and some mags are simply too wide/thick causing failure to fully enter the magwell or if forced in place are nearly impossible to remove. Once you install the GLOCK magwell, determine a brand of mag that fits properly and only buy that brand.

This is my experience as well, though I'd say Glock factory, SGM, and Magpul are safe bets. The same would be true for Ruger magazines; for example, ProMag copies and the like are less than stellar.

The one advantage I see to Glock-type magazines is better accessory support: extra capacity baseplates, stronger springs, web gear, etc. available inexpensively, due to amount of demand.

You have a Glock AR lower or a lower that will accept Glock style mags? I sent Glock an email one time recommending they start mfg'ing AR lowers.

With an RXM and a few more mags with the PCC9, that's a good start on a go kit.

For the PC9 with the Glock mag well installed, all Glock mags will work. PMag/MagPul and of course Glock mags work flawlessly. I have read MecGar are good as well. I use Glock and PMag 17-19 round mags. The Ruger RXM after a little bit of experience is a good companion to the PC9. I have a Glock Gen 1 in the Tupperware case, and the mags are sub-optimal The original Gen 1 mags are not fully metal lined on the inside. Over time those mags will swell due to plastic fatigue and be difficult to get out.

PC9's are old school and do not take any Glock mags at all.

The much newer PCC's are compatible with Glock and other mags.

I have both Gen 4 and Gen 5 Glock mags and they work perfectly.

I regularly us Korean (KCI) mags in my RXM, no issues. The problem with the Magpull mags is no witness holes. There is a ejector mark on the spine of the Magpull mag that I drilled with a 1/8" bit that will indicate 10 rounds. The KCI mags have been used for hundreds of rounds and ejected onto a range carpeted with granite fines, I always wash them out when I get home.

One caveat - early Glock mags have only one mag catch slot (on the right side), which means the Ruger PCC mag release button needs to stay on the left side of the carbine. I moved the PCC mag release button to the right side, so it's more like the AR mag release I'm familiar with; that means I can't use older Glock mags (which I don't own anyway)...

I too have a number of the KCI Glock mags …. All work as well as the originals …. Local store used to sell them I think for $10 to $12 brand new. I’ve used them in PCC, G19 and G17.
