Been thinking about that, but don't really have much knowledge about revolvers. What would be a good started that wouldn't break the bank?

Ruger Wrangler is a nice single action 22 for less that 2 hundred dollars.

As far as Ruger revolvers go, you can't go wrong starting off with the iconic hand canon, a nice used Super Blackhawk .44 Magnum with the iconic 7.5" barrel (the best shooters too). These are plentiful and if you keep your eye out locally, can be had for 500 and less with a little fancy dickering.
