So i ran into a used stainless single six that i'm interested in. It has some scuffs and scratches here and there but for the price that its being offered at i think it isn't to bad. The thing is that it only comes with the magnum cylinder. I'd like to get the 22lr cylinder but is it possible? If it is how do i go about to getting one? Through ruger? And lastly how much would it be?

thanks :)

I have 2 single-sixes, the 2nd came with only the 22 lr cylinder. I tried the mag cylinder off the one I already had, it would not fit. I took a chance and bought an 'as new' stainless 22 mag cylinder off gunbroker for $50 + shipping. It fit great on the blued single-six I had recently purchased. I was willing to try some minor 'fitting' if it came to that. The one from my other single-six seemed a tad to long.

Anyway, the official procedure is to send the gun back to Ruger for the other cylinder. There is a chance that you will buy one and it will not fit. I know there is more to fit than just having it go into place. I do my best to see that it lines up properly.

Ruger ~ $150

Doner's are out there as mentioned above ~ $50, better to find em long an then fit it or get it fit. The LR Cylinders are a little harder to find, but there out there.

area51, best thing to do is measure the cylinder that is in the gun NOW and get the overall length, from end to end......keep this in mind when looking to get another cylinder, ...you need to find one with this length, or a tad longer, as said above it can be fitted (shortened) to work, if you get one "sight ,unseen..." you are getting a 'pig in a poke' and will be useless or need too much done to it to make it work in YOUR gun....yes, they need to be "fitted", need to be properly timed ( and lock up) to work in YOUR gun safely.........

No matter what check the bore alignment. If it is a wee bit short in length it can be shimmed. I was lucky and purchased a .22LR cylinder from a friend for $25.00...after we checked the clearance, the lockup, and the alignment.
