And instead of being scolded for not buying locally, I must remember that local dealers seldom stock anything I normally buy.

And when the local dealers charge a transfer fee, am I not buying locally?

Maybe I don't stock everything you need. But I bet you I can get it and I bet you by the time you pay shipping and a transfer fee, my price is at least comparable if not better.

My transfer fee is $30. Is that enough for me to make a living on?
Did that online company do any charitable work in your neighborhood?
Did it pay any taxes in your county? Does it employ anyone in your area?
Does it sponsor your little league team?
Does it ever donate anything to the local food bank?
Does it ever donate anything to the local 4H shooting team?
Doubtful.
And.dont forget: when the local dealer goes out of business, where are you going to get your gun transferred then? Farther away.

Well to step back a bit... I've bought many a gun via the internet but almost all were from individuals.... that had post on this forum or the one other I frequent in the hundreds if not thousands... the two or three I bought from companies I knew were legit... also just to go ahead and say it I was buying what I wanted at that specific time and was not looking for any kind of great deal. My FFL has made a fortune off of me in transfer fees... especially since I'm easy and there is no back ground check or wait.

As for ammo.. I don't buy a lot and most of what I 'did' buy was remanufactured by Georgia Arms.... I'm hoping they will be up and running soon after the fire they had from a lightning strike. The two biggest problems from this was it activated their sprinkler system and this ruined their primers and washed all their machines.... which have to be moved, cleaned and then oiled and reset.

Speaking of ammo …. I’m not in the market but a relative has 9mm on his Christmas list. I was pleasantly surprised to see local “farm store” with Remington FMJ at $13 a box of 50!

Shipping fees on ammo are just crazy! For me it’s just a last resort sort of thing.
