Front Sight on 45 is wrong can it be replaced.

LGS has an old model 45 /45Acp for sale that I'd like to have. The problem is the front sight blade has been cut off and and narrow insert cut into what is left. Then a very thin blade was installed into the front sight. Is it possible to replace the front sight? Are they silver soldered on?

yes, they are and if you go that route, then afterwards, need to at least "reblue" the barrel (pull the barrel, and not have to reblue the entire gun....OR ,better yet, have a machinist, mill it down "flat" to the sight 'body', then cut a keyway (slot) and you can put in a new 'blade' and pin it in place like the stainless new Blackhawks,look at one of them and you'll "see" what we mean....
