Regarding my 44 Spcl Flat Top:
Our Range faces South and quite often the Sun reflcts brightly off of my front sight at the ramp. The serrations do not help much. Does anybody have suggestions for cutting the glare, other than a hood?

You could try painting it with flat black modeler's enamel. It will not eliminate it but glare will be reduced a significant amount.

What DonaldJr said, or less involved - neatly apply a black Sharpie. Obviously repeatable easily over time as it will wear.

There are commercial sight black paints. the best thing is a smoker. Kinda like a Zippo that runs on carbide and water. That makes acetylene which makes the nicest black soot you could ever want.

This one version of the carbide. I can't believe the price, or I'v just been at this too long.

Here is your solution:

I have used Sight Black for many, many years. I keep a can in my shooting box. It will rub off but for range use it is the "cats meow"!

I find Sharpies glare too in direct sunlight. I use lampblack as Dale suggested or even just a yellow flame to soot the sight...(Don't flame a plastic insert!  ) You ain't seen "flat black" until you've seen "soot black" IMO....

take a peace of wide masking tape and stick it to something and light it
black smooty smoke almost as good and the smokers and lot cheaper
DON'T hold it burning tape stuck to your finger is not good trust me

I use a disposable butane lighter and run the flame over the sight to coat it with carbon. Not quite as good as a carbide / water sight smoker, but a lot more user friendly and cheaper.....
