1st time reloading 223, should I crimp as sop or should I trial&error? I plan on eventually doing the 300yrd range, I’m starting out with Varget 27.5gr and 55gr FMJ.

When reloading .223 w/55grain FMJ, I've gotten good results w/ Hodgdon H335. I use the Lee Factory Crimp Die to put a "firm" crimp into the bullet cannelure.
