The FPC fights a lot of things that pertain to Calif. Since the start of this year I've made four donations to them when they email me asking for money. The last donation I made was on July 28, 2021. Yesterday I received and email from them. The gist of the email is what I posted below. I finally found a phone number for them and called. A woman answered and I told here about this email and that I didn't like it's threatening manner. Well, she went on about a few things finally saying she would look into it. Not one apology or anything like it. She took my name and phone number like she was intending to get back to me. It appeared in my Outlook email program as

Cary,
FPC has been attempting to get ahold of you regarding an urgent situation that requires your immediate attention.
We've emailed you multiple times but haven't heard back, and tonight is your very last chance to take corrective action.
Your FPC membership has been labeled INACTIVE and if you don't update it by midnight it could remain that way INDEFINITELY.
That's why it's imperative that you click the button below and update our membership form before the clock runs out.

One, I don't cotton to strong arm tactics. Two, I support who I think/know are doing a good job helping to protect our 2A rights but I give only what I can. Once I reach that limit, that's it. One example, I am a member of the 2nd Amendment Foundation because I think they do a good job. BUT, I get AT LEAST 2 pieces of mail per week with them asking for money and at least 1 email a week from them, asking for money. They get deleted or tossed in the trash, I give when I can and that's it. I have also called them and others I donate to and tell them not to pester me, send something every 3-6 months and maybe I'll give. Send more than that, no money and I have to think about giving more even if I have it. What I consider harassing mail/email will garner them nothing from me.

They do send me emails almost daily. They do have info in them about cases that I'm particularly interested. So, I don't mind them too much. But they need to have more control about who donates to them. As I said I made four donations since 1/1/21.

Then they send me that strong arm email. The lady I talked to didn't even say she was sorry. That's really got my goat. I'm still waiting for a reply from them. If I don't get one, I will call them again and tell them I really am an inactive member for good now because I won't be sending them another cent. I'm particularly interest in the case against the California Gun Roster.

They screwed the pooch on that one... one of the problems I often see in this type of begging is the lack of communication between the collecting money and the begging.... they just assume you have not paid them anything just like the rest of the folks they are contacting... maybe that should tell you something.

Any time I receive a "you owe us money" correspondence from any organization I just shred/delete it. They apparently don't understand that those of us who support their efforts, whatever they are, do so because we believe them to be worthwhile. When they get the "big head" and believe we can be threatened into contributing, we should perhaps re-evaluate what we think of their organization overall. All too often I find them to be very questionable.

Some of the NRA's solicitations fall into this category. "Your fourth quarter contribution is overdue . . ." :roll:

Were it me, based on what you posted, I would call them again. Once I had a
person on the phone, I would tell them to correct their records . . . . . . or
SEND MY MONEY BACK!

I'm sure they would not return my money, but it might get their attention.

After possibly getting their attention I would add that ONE more threatening E-mail
and I will put ALL of their E-mail on my auto-delete feature of my e-mail processor.
Once again, they need to pay attention, and if they don't, do you really need any
of the information(?) they send? - - - Your decision. :wink:

I've gotten the same email from them, it just goes into the trash, I liken those to the " this is your last warning " type which never end.

I think I would have to contact them about the 2nd or 3rd time I got "this is your last warning" email. And point out to them that they can't even do what they say they are going to do.

Pretty much my position that outfits that engage in this kinda stuff don't give a fig for your opinion, they just want your money.

Every non profit Organization does enthusiastic soliciting . Some of them actually do worthwhile things worthy of support .

Figure out who you want to support on their merits , and support them generously .

And then ignore all advertising from all of them .

Hi,

I send them an annual membership fee ($25 or so) but their begging for money tactics seem a lot like the story of the little boy who cried wolf. Yes, I realize the costs of litigation are outrageous, but if we didn't have so many d-rn freeloaders out there and could get them to cough up a little now and then, these tactics wouldn't be necessary.

Yes, they're involved in a lot of good stuff, but when we do have a win, a whole lot of people's names surface to take some credit. So I appreciate FPC's efforts, but my money gets spread across several tables. Everybody gets "a little." Maybe if I could train the lottery people to pick my numbers, that could change, but for now, there are at least five hands out every time I pull a dollar bill out... so y'all have to share!
