Found a special security six!

A few months back I was out hitting some gun shops when one of the owners who knows I like revolvers and obscure guns asked if I knew what this was. I was instantly excited! It took some time but eventually we made a deal! When I called Hamilton he stated that it was a gun he built for himself as a one off shop example, and its featured on page 43 of his book!

Very nice! Ruger intended to offer the "double action revolver" in .22 LR from the beginning, but that never came to fruition.

Didn't Hamilton make a few Sixes in 44 special too? If it wasn't him I know there were definitely a few custom Sixes converted to 44 special. I remember seeing an article about it but there was one for sale not too long ago. I think it was a 4 inch Speed Six.

I had it wrong, it wasn't Hamilton it was ASP, just found the thing I was talking about. It wasn't an article (though there was an article about it). I remember now, I saw it on Gunbroker. Normally I won't link to other forums but since this is Ruger related I thought it would be nice for others to see this.

This exact gun, with the magazine and letter was for sale on gunbroker, the same LGS that the OP is talking about had it up for sale. I guess there are at least a few out there, when I searched for it I found one that was for sale here and 2 more on Rock Island Auctions.

And you're right it would be the ultimate! I'm a die hard 357 mag guy myself but I'd love to have one of these 44s too.
