Found a casting flaw inside my GP100, cause for concern?

Hi everyone,
I was just doing a detail clean on a stainless 4" GP100 I just picked up and I noticed what appears to be a casting flaw in the form of a crater inside the frame. It's about 1.5mm wide x .75mm across. Cosmetically I do not care as it's inside the gun where it will never been seen, but is this anything to worry about structurally? I opened up my 6" GP100 and examined the same area and found a couple casting pits as well, but not quite as big, so maybe this is pretty common?

welcome to the Forum, from what we see that is just as you note a "casting flaw"...see them in about ANY casting, and LOTS worse...I would be concerend if it was in a critical area, like around the top strap or where the barrel screws into the cylinder frame.....enjoy it

Yeah, I agree. That's tiny. And even if something were to go wrong -- Ruger would fix it on their dime.

When I buy new guns -- I field strip them and look for burrs and at the contact points. Without going crazy I polish off the real rough spots and smooth out the burrs. Once in a while filings drop out. I don't even look that hard at the castings unless something is rubbing on it that shouldn't be. Rugers are super-overbuilt.

Mine has similar little marks in that area.
