For the Harley riders out there

Looks very nice but they sure are proud of it. List price just under 40 grand, not that much more than a very well equipped auto or pickup.

That's a damned nice motorcycle! I'm a big fan of the CVOs... Gorgeous machines. Harley also has a stripped down three wheeler for 2015 that's really got my eye! ;)

To each his own.... if I was to drop that kind of cash on a motorcycle, I'd get a BMW K1600 GTL and pocket the extra 10 grand.

How big is that motor? And please give me the answer in CID. I'm to old to try and understand metric. Especially in American made stuff.

The new Harley baggers are 103 CI.... been that way for 2 or 3 years. And they even have liquid cooling around the exhaust ports on the "High Output" version.... I think the Road Glide gets that motor. Keeping the heads cooler lets them increase the compression ratio a bit, and advance the timing as well. Supposed to give them about 4hp more than the strictly air-cooled motors.

Only ones that are liquid-cooled assist are the V-Rods, Street and I believe the Ultra Classic.

Both Road Glide models are still air cooled.

On the Harley baggers look for the "lowers" bolted to the highway/engine guard. They "hide" the radiator in those and accordingly, they can not be removed.

Thanks, I didn't know that they've gotten that big. I pretty much quit watching the new Harleys when they removed the kick start. I still prefer the old stuff.

And, for a bit of little-known H-D history:

I once bought a brand-new Harley that was one of the last of the kicker models. It was a 1985 FXSB Low Rider. It had the old-style frame, 4-speed transmission, etc., but it was an Evo motor. I've only seen one or two others like it on the road since I bought it (and sold it back in '98).

The kickstarter came in handy when my starter relay went out. I had to kick it for a week, then I went and got a new relay.

Read about that bike several times.... imagine what Harleys would be if they'd followed the vision.....

Too old to spend that kind of money. I still ride my 1996 Electra- Glide Classic. It is the last of the carbureted models. I'll keep it till I die.
