We all have seen pictures of Mike "Doc" Barranti and some of his leatherwork. He is simply amazing, and his work is top quality. He has inspired me to go back into leather tooling. I think right now is an ideal time to introduce you to my new talent of leather stuff. I gave him and Jeff "Tank" Hoover a piece of leopard skin to hang in their work rooms. Some day he might try carving some leather to look like leopard hide. It has been a while since seeing Doc so my creation is all from memory and may not be quite as good as what Doc tools on leather. Here is my first carving in the last 25 years. It is a side view of "Doc" as best as I can remember him.

I will send it to Mike to hang in his work room, but he might have another thought of what to do with it.
Keep up the good work Mike.

Well darn, I'm flattered, and what a coincidence!! Just this past weekend, I was trying to carve old Callshot, but something went terribly wrong and all I ended up with was something that resembled Elmer Keith!?!

Go figure...

The Elmer portrait is jaw-dropping Mike. Really well done. I've been meaning to ask you about your 29. Have you had it long and who did the grips? I assume it's 60's or 70's vintage with the pinned barrel.

Callshot's got to much time on his hands these days. Lee, Mike will chime in but that model 29 is very near & dear to his heart. Its known as the "Mary" gun.

That triangular shape looks horrendously like the front panel of a thong    Wonder who the lucky recipient will be........ :?:

Lee, the full story is here http://www.sixguns.com/crew/TheMaryGun.htm

Lee, if I remember correctly, this one is a late 29-2, in the last year or so of the P&R guns, making it around 81-82 if I recall. Bob Leskovec lives about 45 minutes from me in Gibsonia, if you are familiar with that area. I'd recommend him to anyone.

Scaliwags for sure, led by the biggest one of them all, 2 dogs... Some of those scaliwags I've never met, and it was a most kind gesture.
