As a soldier, I remember the Solder's Guide Manual and the photo of the correct display of the foot locker. Everything had to be folded and displayed in accordance with that illustration. Shaving gear laid out just so and all underwear folded properly.

This has led me to wonder about now with women incorporated into regular Army units. Certainly they have a guide for the differences between male and female toiletries? And underclothing folded Army way? And do theirs get poked around during inspection by the platoon sergeant's swagger stick?

I had a display foot locker when I came back from Vietnam never used anything in it and at inspection time I put everything I used in my car.

I didn't have foot lockers when I was in , We had wall lockers with 2 draws in them and we had a layout sheet to were everything had to be. That was 79-87 active , same thing in the reserves , It wasn't till l got to the Gulf for Desert Storm did I see a foot locker and that wasn't till after they surrendered and we had to clean up equipment and pack it up then we got nice new foot lockers , It gave us a place to lock up our things while we were working somewhere , When we headed home I filled it up with stuff wrapped it up in cardboard ,taped it up and mailed to me at home , It's up in the attic now full of things from my time in the Army , I should go look through it .

Lockers had to be a certain way in basic in 72, after that never saw one again.
In AF we had two men to a room after basic & wall closets that they never cared about.

So long ago, can't recall anything about the footlocker layout.
