FoNRA time!

Well, tonight's the night.
Our 28th annual WNC FoNRA event is tonight. We have been busy as heck prepping,, working on all the details etc. So far,, 78 guns will be moving to new homes,, as well as however many we have to order due to the Wall of Guns raffles,, or any "upgrades" that attendees purchase. I figure we'll have a total of 85 or so transferred after tonight. We have 417 tickets sold,, and by all accounts,, lots of anticipation!
Miss Penny & I will be leaving shortly to start set-up,, with the committee,, and the doors open at 6pm.
We'll likely get home around 1-2 am,, and will surely sleep in tomorrow.

Wish us luck,, as we want to top $75,000 NET this year.

Wow, over 400 tickets sold, congrats. I think we did around 140 last year. Pretty new chapter in a small burg. Good luck with your banquet.

We will have our 3rd annual FoNRA banquet in October. I just attended an all day meeting voting on 90+ grants. That was my first time for that.

I think most of them want $50 for a ticket and then you have to buy into the raffles.

Dinner tickets are driven by the cost to put on the event. For MOST FoNRA committees,, the dinner ticket is NOT a money maker. We charge $45 for our dinner tickets,, but the end cost for dinner, staff, facility, amenities, etc. come out to around $43.00 per ticket sold.

I always tell my committee members,, that if someone says; "I'll buy a ticket,, but I can't attend," to NOT sell them a ticket,, but get the money as a donation. Otherwise,, if we sell a ticket,, we have to have a meal set for the ticket. We lose it. I STRESS that buying a dinner ticket does NOTHING to help us if you are not attending & willing to spend a little more the night of the event.
Sadly,, many attendees think otherwise.

Yes,,, we sell dinner tickets and then we want you to buy stuff once you get there. IT'S A FUND RAISER for gosh sakes. I spent some time last night with a woman,, who has 3 sons who shoot on a youth shotgun team, that have been to their Nationals. Her youngest shot a perfect score,, and in skeet, (I think) he's the youngest person to ever score a perfect score at the 27 yd line. They are awaiting verification. Their team & school gets grant money directly from this fun raising! They were thanking me a lot for all the work. It was my privilege to meet them & see 3 kids I'd helped.

As Rumrunner mentioned,, we also do a grant workshop. Ours was this past November. We had about 135 grant applications,, with a requested amount of over $950,000.00. We only had about $400,000.00 to grant out. As he said,, an all day workshop studying grants & awarding as much as we could to as many requests we could.

So talking to this family last night was a treat,, and exactly why I do it.

Yes,, it all depends upon how the set-up is run locally.
Another FoNRA event I attend,, dinner tickets are $25. They do a self serve BBQ dinner. My event is a plated pork chop loin dinner, served by a wait staff etc. Upscale over other local events. Both events do well for their areas.
