Flatgates with Ivory

Trying to dress up this consecutive pair up but the color is off on the ivories. Is it still a good look or should I

search for either a more yellow pair or cream pair?

Personally,, I would just be HAPPY to have some original factory ivories to put on a few guns,, much less worry about trying to make them look identical. Besides,, I'm SURE that there were color variations when new anyway!

I’m with Contender in that I’d be thrilled to even have one pair of Ivory’s… or for that matter a pair of consecutive Flatgates especially ones that nice. But since you ask if I were trying to match them I’d be more inclined to go with the more yellowed look which IMHO better reflects the age of the guns. Either way they are absolutely gorgeous and thanks for sharing!

Appreciate the input….. And I agree. I really want to keep the yellow, not only for the reasons you pointed out but because they belonged to Roy Melcher and have interesting provenance. The cream ones are really pristine though.
I will just keep them like they are until and if I happen upon a more yellow set.
Troys offer is really nice and greatly appreciated but I think he is more interested in hanging on to yellows. Don’t blame him, but I will talk to him once he gets home…..if his legs haven’t gave out yet
PS - I get sites confused and Troy offered to trade white for the yellow.

You can always wipe them down with a coffee-soaked rag. That might both "age" them and bring them closer to the same color.

First off...Beautiful guns!
It wouldn't bother me at all.
Each slab of Ivory tends to age differently depending upon it's grain pattern, and also which part of the tusk it comes from.
