Was watching an episode of the original Star Trek, "Requiem for Methuselah" and realized the guy on the planet was monitoring the Captain and his away team on a flat screen TV....

Have you seen the movie Galaxy Quest? The aliens see TV broadcasts, and make a ship that works like the fictional one. That's what happened with Star Trek. What was shown on screen eventually ended up as functioning items on store shelves.

Every time I watch Galaxy Quest I can't stop laughing when he tells him to take the ship out. The guy piloting the ship screeches it against the siderail for 15 plus seconds while trying to leave the starbasetoysoldier said:

all this great technology, yet the content hasn't improved.
I'm still using my little Motorola flip 'phone. Works just fine, thanks, and has functions I still don't know how to use. Since I only use it for a 'phone all the rest doesn't matter.
I never turn it on unless I need to make a call away from home. It is not my "leash".

To the consternation of my (adult) children, I treat the new phone just like the old one - like a spare tire.

10 years ago I was with a bunch of buddies out in the boonies and we had sketching cell phone signals... most were roaming and so their batteries in there iddibidy sort of flip phones were dyeing ... I could not call out even though it said I had three bars... good friend pulled a bag phone out of his truck and guess what? worked find. This digital age is not as great as they try to make us believe.
