Hey guys,

I want to say I went to the range today and shot 100rds with my sr9. Gotta say that I like it alot, and the recoil is smooth. I haven't shot a gun in over 10 years, but am glad I'm shooting now. Shot only from the 35yrds because my target flew from the wind and I couldn't find it anymore. I didn't want to pay for another one, so I just shot at the 35yrds which have the hanging metal targets. I hit some, but most of them missed. I believe I could have shot better, but the wind and dust killed it.

I did get one jam after the first shot. It seemed the shell got stuck in the slide after I shot it. I had to take out the magazine and unjam the second cartridge cause the slide didn't retract all the way. After that, everything else went fine. Next time I do go, I might go indoor cause of the wind and dust. But, I did see a guy with a .50 cal. Next time, I'll post my target paper if it doesn't fly away again.

35 yards? The SR9 is a great sidearm. With the exception of the S&W Model 39 family of semi autos, the most comfortable handgun I've ever shot. Mine was dialed in @30 feet when I took it out for the first time and that's where I left it. You'll love your SR9.

35 yards isn't tough for these pistols.

I've got an sr9c and an sr40 that I can usually hit an 8" target at 100 yards (about 7/10 shots hit free-hand).

Whew! Nice first outing with an SR9 and no baloney, either, shooting outdoors at that distance your first time out. I think you're going to be one of the people who really likes this gun over the long haul. Target gets blown away? Keep shooting! That's the spirit.

Practice makes perfect and welcome to the forum. Prudence and reality prevent me from claiming the SR9 is the best pistol 9mm pistol in the world. It isn't, by a semi-longshot. But the value for the money is in the sweet spot and as long as you realize that you'll be happy. It's also very safe and user-friendly. I wouldn't be working on buying an SR40 and selling my SR9 to my father if I didn't believe in it.

We're looking forward to hearing your followup reports. :)

I here yah on the value, what you get for your money is incredible. Plus its an american company and that's big for me. I love my SR40, makes me feel a lil more badass then my 9mm lol...

35 yards is probably not where you want to start after not having fired a handgun in ten years-as the original poster stated. Just saying.......... I like that video Nutnfancy has where he's plinking a pile of scrap metal with an SR9 consistently at over 100 yards. There's another YOUTUBE with a guy plinking a gong at 100 with an LCP! Actually....150 yards. Check "RUGER LCP SNIPER!!! AT 150 YARDS" on you tube

Well next time I'll restart at 7 yards and I'll make sure my target holds from the clips. I guess that's the only thing I didn't like about outdoors is when it's windy and all that dust, powder, and targets are flying around. I'll probably try indoor again and test out my gun skills there. Then I'll go back to the outdoor.

However, I did notice that I wasn't too far off from the targets I was hitting at, so at least I know I was in the ballpark. Since it was my first handgun and some time since I was shooting, I figure I spent two boxes just to test out my gun and to get use to it. Next time, will be more precision.

Yeah, I'm not the best shot in the world. Pretty far from it, actually. ;)
I'm sure the SR's will be out-shooting me for a LONG time.
