First P95 Range Report

I had my 3 week old P95 out the the range this past Friday. I put 119 rounds through it and it worked perfectly. I got pretty good results on the home printed 8.5 x 11 targets.

100 rounds of American Eagle FMJ
19 rounds of Remington Golden Saber

I gave it a good cleaning after I got home. My 17 year old son enjoyed shooting it also. Awesome firearm. I proudly OC'd it all weekend.

My LCP, Mark II and GP100 got plenty of action too.

Great gun, I just upgraded to night sights on my P95. Of all my guns I like my P95 the best!!

I bought a new P95 (blue) about one month ago, got about 400 ~500 rounds through it. I really like it, would buy it again.
It does not seem to like the Remington UMC 115gr FMJ ammo, but works well on Winchester & Federal. (all the ammo was from Wally-World)

there was a guy selling an older one, with the slick grips and no rail (useless anyway) over in the classifieds and it was a decock only model!

And the P95 has to be the gun deal of the year. An indestructible fiearm, a high capacity magazine, a decocker and all for under $300.

It's not the just reliability of the p95 but I find it to be a really accurate gun. And Ruger CS is terrific to deal with.

But I love my P95PR15! Good looking, solid firearm. Fits my hand, great weight and balance and easy to point and shoot.

I just ordered 200 rounds to keep her fed.

I got the pouch for the spare magazine from Amazon.

Can't agree more. Some call it chunky...but it fits my large hand wonderfully. Built like a tank, never had a misfire. Not exactly a match grade pistol, but it's accurate enough. At 12 yards I can fill a dangerous paper plate full of holes. And smile while doing it.

The good Samaritan that I am I'm more than willing to take one of those off your hands so you'll be able to sleep soundly at night knowing that you won't have two of them cluttering up your safe. That's just the kind of guy I am. I'm not even picky if they are blued or stainless. Ain't I a nice guy?

Sorry AlanJ65, I cant do that to a fellow man. So it looks like I have no choice but to keep my P95s until I leave this world.
Edit- one was blued but I converted it to SS so I now have a maching pair.

They are about as rugged, reliable and affordable 9mm as you'll ever find. The only negatives are resale value and a bit clunky for ccw.

I use mine for IDPA Competition. Most everybody else is shooting M&P Pro or Glocks. Everything costs twice as much as my P95. I shoot just as well as they do and I don't think I have every had a FTF or a single hiccup. Like they say, it's the singer and not the song.

I've also had people say they won't trust their live to a $300 gun. I tell them I'm not. I'm trusting my life to a gun that's never failed.

My KP95 is on order with my friendly FFL. Looking forward to joining the club! I went with a new one for the "grippier" frame, and 'cause all I seemed to find around here were blued pistols.

By the way, the word for the P95 is not "ugly." I prefer "businesslike." One of the selling points for me was that I wanted a hammer gun. I'm just not a big fan of striker-fired pistols.

Another plus was the low-cost Mec-Gar mags for the pistol. Midway has 15-rounders for $20 each, right now. I'm planning on buying a few Mec-Gar 20's, and probably a few of their 17-rd. mags as well.

I can hardly wait to shoot this pistol!

By the way, since when does price figure into this? I think the gripes come from people who want to feel good that they spent a lot on their pistol. For a pistol that's likely to be with me for the rest of my life, $100 or $200 either way won't decide me. What will decide me is a pistol that offers what I need and that fits my hand fairly well.

Price of mags figures in, because that can get expensive in a hurry. I've been close to buying guns before, only to find out that mags were hard to get and/or outrageously priced. I want to be able to let a mag fall from the gun in practice without worrying too much about it.

Just got back from the range and another 85 flawless rounds.
Man, I love this gun! I OC it most everywhere.

By the way - ammo from usaammo.com both FMJ and JHP work great in the P95.

I've never considered a P95 ugly and can't quite figure out why someone would think they were... then again, I think most Glocks are just that .... butt ugly... they look like they were designed by someone who used to work in a shoebox factory... seems with most semis over the last 10-20 years everything has to be squared off... with no curves... then you get to pay extra for a 'rounded' off one ... like with Sigs and their deep concealment ones... (I'm actually a Sig fan to a degree)

I've always liked the p95 because Ruger didn't square off the front of the trigger guard and if you note, the edges are all rounded off to start with.
