Took my sr1911 for the first 50 rounds this morning. First off I used the 7 & 8 round ruger mags plus a kimber 8 round and an RIA 7 round. I purposed loaded the new ruger mags to full capacity and let them sit for 3 days to stretch the mag springs. Cleaned the gun and mags meticiculously before hand. Impressions are as follows: finish in/out perfection. No marks or dings whatsoever. Slide to frame fit as well as bushing to barrel quite tight and nicely done. Grips tight and safety engages authoritatively. Mag insertion quite positive. Beveled magwell is nice touch. Sights were
tightened prior to first outing-sight picture and follow up accusition quite easy. Recoil slightly harsher in comparison with my rock island with same bullet load. Accuracy was extremely acceptable from 7 to 25 yards. Shines much better in this area than my other 2 1911's as well as others including a higher end s&w loaned to me by a shootin buddy. No failures of any kind. No failures to lock back-no slide hangups. Trigger proved crisp with no play and no noticeable slop or grit. Press felt on the high side of 5 pounds maybe 6 (unofficially). Will hope trigger lightens up with use as well as slide manipulation as it is bearlike to rack. Overall rating at this infantile stage of ownership would have to be a resounding wow. One seriously value priced but high-end looking-shooting peice. Will report further on long term break-in and trigger use improvement. Sorry for the book like post. Enjoyable purchase. Feelin the Ruger love! Ken
