Fire Blued Pins available anywhere?

Just finished a nice polish on a new NM Flattop Blackhawk and would change out the hammer and trigger pins in the lighter blue finished (like blue eyes)I’ve seen on some customs or high end revolvers. Anybody aware of a source or service for such a thing? Might look good with the base pin latch done as well.

I agree I love that look! I assume you’re talking about stainless. I have done this myself on blue or carbon steel and it is an easy process. Simply polish your pin heads and apply heat from a torch heck if your oven gets hot enough you can even use that. The nice bright blow you desire is I believe around 550 degrees. Once you get the color stop the heat I quench in oil. That being said I don’t know if stainless turned the same as carbon steel. Again I love the flame blue pins!

Well, the stainless on my Blackhawk doesn’t take heat like carbon steel! I just went down stairs and tried no dice unfortunately. This is a set I did myself a while ago.

The pins you are seeing are nitre blued. The nitre salts are melted and the parts dipped in.
