I was on the waiting list at my local fun store since last year when they first came out and finally my number came up!!!

Initial impression - well worth the wait, though maybe I should have spent the extra $100 and bought it sooner... Money's tight these days... Had to sell guns to buy it... :(

I've strayed from 1911's in recent years but there was something about this one that I knew I needed. I like my M&P45, great gun but this Ruger feels a lot better in the hand. Tuperware just lacks soul and side by side with a traditional beauty like the 1911, polymer guns are just plain ugly.

I had it out to the range the next day. With hunting season about to start the only bay open was a 7 yarder. I loaded up some ammo I'd used for carry for a while and it shot and cycled great. Next did some handloads that I made in 1977... 200 gr SWC that give most 45 autoloaders fits - which is why I still have them after all these years... The Ruger cycled and shot them fine.

Cast SWC, 200gr over bullseye.

Ran through a bunch of other miscellaneous handloads I've had on hand and the Ruger digested and shot them very well.

It'll take me a while to get used to the new pistol but I'm really liking it. I think I may be selling an M&P or two and get on the list again for another SR1911...

The second from the right is the Lee 452-200 RF. With my alloy it weighs in closer to 220 grains. Doesn't shoot well in my 45 Colts but my 45 acp and auto rims usually shoot it well though not all will cycle it. Cuts nice holes in paper and I expect it'd do well on critters too.
