We had a Steam Excursion train through here on 8/13/12, & back thru on the following Monday. These are just a few quick shots we got, as they didn't stop here.
The sad fact is, I was there when this was a regular occurrence, & Deisels were a novelty !
The last one thru here was in 1977, & I saw it too.

It really wasn't that long ago that they were the norm.

Nice photos. The railroad that used to run along the Fox River Valley, here,
shut down around the same time or near enough.
Now the track run is a multi county bike path. At least the town
of Dundee had dedicated patrons that had the old depo site rebuilt around 1985.
I used to unload coal cars off that siding in the 70's.
