Finally Decided On the SR9c

Today is a great day! I am new to the forum and wanted to jump in and tell about my new purchase, the sr9c. Deliberated for months almost buying the Taurus PT-709 or the Taurus PT111 but as I already have a new Taurus TCP and the fact it has been to the factory for repair already, I decided to move up a notch or so. Now when I got the the dealer I had my heart set on the two tone stainless but they brought out the blackened alloy. Now here is the controversial part, the black gun felt and was announced it was lighter than the two-tone stainless. I held both and came to the same conclusion. Is this true or imagined? The dealer that moves a lot of guns said the blackened alloy is lighter. Anyway, I am delighted to join this forum and can't wait to get the gun to the range and can't wait to carry this baby with IWB holster. The TCP may be up for sale.

Both weigh in at 23.4 ounces, don't see why they'd weigh differently.

Understandable though, I get a little lightheaded when I'm buying a new gun, especially when I start counting out those $100's. :lol:

Congrats on a great gun. I went in expecting to get a SS when I bought my SR9c, but frankly just loved the look of the black upper. Haven't regretted the choice.

It's a fun, reliable, accurate shooter. :!:

I was dead set on the stainless but the black called out to me at the last minute. Either one would have been fine. After the experience I have had with the Taurus TCP, I knew it would be hit or miss with the Taurus PT-709. Everything I read about the sr9c just made me know that this was the gun I want to carry. I have the SA XDM 40 but that is too much gun to conceal in the summertime. Bought some boxes of Federal for my first outing with this gun, I hope it will chew those up.

Congrats on the new Sr9c. I have 400 rounds through mine without a single glitch. It's an awesome carry pistol. I think you'll love it.

Just for reference I have some actual weights of the SR9c. Measured on my accurate digital kitchen scale.

Empty w/10 rnd mag:23.6 oz
loaded w/10+1 rnds of 124gr pdx1: 28.5oz
loaded w/17+1 rnds of 124gr pdx1: 33.3oz

Does the slide stop button get any easier to operate in time? Mine is extremely hard to work.

Great choice. The slide stop is just that, a slide stop. The slingshot method is what is required. (it does get easier over time).

As mentioned it should get easier to use the slide STOP for a slide RELEASE :lol:
After somewhat less than 1,000 rds mines pretty EZ to release without any real concentrated effort with the tip of my stronghand thumb 8)

At first mine was hard to work too. It's had about 400 rounds through it and the slide stop button works great now.

Congratulations on the new purchase. I recently bought a stainless SR9c because my full-size stainless SR9 needed a little brother. Haven't had the opportunity to get to the range with it yet but if it shoots like my full-size I won't be disappointed.

Total drool factor. I love both the stainless and black versions. I think I'll get the black one for now and then see if I can't just sneak a pair of stainless guns in a year or so. :D

If your local dealers like mine (hopefully) you can always trade them in on the other set :D

Welcome and congrats on choosing a fantastic handgun. I just love mine. I have 300 rounds through mine without a single issue. I think it is very accurate. When I do my part, it goes right where it is sapposed to. You will love shooting it I am sure. I normally like the two tone with a stainless slide. When I looked at them they handed me a black with no SS in sight. I actually really liked the look of the black. But out of habbit I asked about a SS. They had one so I got that. But I wish I had gotten the black one. But I still really like it.
