Finally, an N frame 45LC

Now, don't get me wrong, I love my Rugers, but this past weekend I finally snagged a revolver I have wanted for awhile.

I have been wanting a 25-5 45LC for years, but they looked to "purty" to be a working gun. This past Saturday I got a pre-lock, 625 Mountain Gun, 45LC. This to me is going to be the perfect trail gun, along with others of course........ 8) I guess I just have a thing for N frame Smiths! :D

That's a nice combination. I carried a S&W 686 for several years...I would have traded in a heartbeat if a N-frame 45 Colt had been authorized.

I used to have one of those, I really regret that I had to sell it to pay for some bills my daughter caused. It shot really well with the CorBon 265gr Bonded Core ammo. Very powerful, I killed two whitetails with it and that ammo.

I have a mt. gun in 44 mag and it shoots very well. Easy to carry too.

I've got a 4" and a 6" 25-5 and just love 'em. The triggers are simply fantastic.

Great gun choice sir... it was a toss-up for me but I went with the 4" Redhawk in 45Colt.
I second the idea of a Model 25/45acp... maybe even a shorter bbl.

MT. Guns are really nice revolvers.

Nice. I have a 45 colt just like that except it's blue and has fixed sights. So it's a little different but it does have a half-lug 4" pencil barrel. It came back a month ago and I still haven't shot it.

I considered the Redhawk 4"also, but the weight of the MG was the deciding factor. I had a 29, 4" years ago and liked it a lot. I know they are not as robust as the Ruger, but I still like the Smith platform a little better.

I understand and you are right about the weight... I figured I would only buy an older model MT.Gun... besides, Ruger may have discontinue the 45 Colt version on me so better safe than sorry.

I will! own a pinned hammer (or pre-safety model) Mountain Gun some day.

My old half worn out 25-5

is currently wearing rubber baby buggy bumpers and would really look good in a set grips like those.

I love the weight, I love the feel and the accuracy. IIRC mine is a 625-6, just before the lock.

I had the Pachmayr Presentation grip on a 629-1 and they weren't quite right, either. I was looking for some Pachmayr Jordan Troopers but I think they have been discontinued.

Those were on the gun when I got it, but I believe they are Craig Spegel creations. They are quite nice, if I do say so myself!
