Family Outing

Daughter and SIL came to visit for the weekend so we got out to enjoy another beautiful spring day in Gods wonderful creation..

We started out the day at Burgess Falls State Park. The trail runs along the Falling Water river as it goes through a series of cascades and falls through a primarily Hemlock and Beech woods canyon.

There were some nice big trees along the trail..

This is an American Beech.

Next stop was a few miles down the road at Rock Island State Park.

Next stop was our little mountain place for some shooting, 4 wheeling, and picnicking...Both the daughter and SIL can go 10-10 on the prairie dog popper at 75 yds. The AR is an original Bushmaster Dissipator with the carry handle. I have a 2x7 Leupold for it with a detachable carry handle mount that actually holds zero. 8) And the handgun is a S&W 422, which IMHO is one of the best 22 pistol designs ever made.

The old Polaris comes in handy for deer season as well as maintenance on the place, and I have a couple of miles of trails that the kids enjoy riding it on. Dinner was over an open fire. 8)

Last stop of the day was at the old pioneer Birthing Tree in McMinnville. A giant old growth White Oak.

I once crossed the U.S. on Highway 40. I think I spent more time crossing Tennessee than any other state.

There is a sign by it that says its over 250 years old. They call it the birthing tree because they say many settlers would stop there for their kids to be born. Oddly enough, its immediately across the street from the Birthing Center Hospital in McMinnville. After the daughter and SIL had checked it out I pointed out the sign for the tree, and the Birthing Center sign across the street, and said - ok kids - I expect a grandchild in 9 months now. (they got married last August)

Roland, you certainly have a beautiful hunk of property to plain on. I'd love to be able to take a 4 wheeler out and ride around my property. You are a very fortunate man.
