Hello everyone, i just registered today to ask this question because after a few days of searching I have no luck and its bothering me as to why!?!

why does no one sell a factory lower for these guns?

a few years back, I purchased a Ruger mk3 22 45. I also purchased a pac lite upper and a silencer to go with it. That means I ended up with 2 barrels and 1 lower.
all I want is a factory 22 45 lower but all I can find is upgraded ones that cost more than the gun itself.

this puzzles me as sooooo many people buy the upgraded one, why does no one sell off the old stock one? better yet, why does Ruger not offer this lower with their replacment parts?
the closest I came was a business that does custom upgrades and sells off the stock lowers, but always has 0 in stock.

I would just like to understand why the factory lower is not a common part espicially since there is no FFL needed to purchase since the barrel is whats got the SN.

You could post a want to buy in the classifieds.

thanks for the link. I did find that through my searching but every single one says sold out. :(
they did have some for $160 that i was keeping my eye on, non removable grip but price was right - but they never have any in stock.
are they just so popular that supply cant keep up with demand?

thanks for the info and the welcome. i will check out classified and keep an eye out.

welcome to the forum....the reason being, MOST folks simply keep the MK III lowers, use it for their "needs' and get rid of the uppers.........they must like to keep and use the lowers more applicable, the MK III uppers "suck"...I always just kept the sights and the bolt, got rid of the rest of the upper, and was USUALLY a "hard" sell 8)

Try gunbroker.com I've seen 22/45 lowers there at very reasonable prices. Just enter MKIII 22/45 in the search box.

Volquartsen offers one, sorta pricey though. Here's a "FrankenRuger" I put together over the winter months a couple of years back. It has a 22/45 Mark III upper with the Volquartsen grip frame.

The upper was completely worked over to fill the rear dovetail slot and then the LCI slot in the left face of the receiver. The base & solid rib are one-piece.
