The Sticks---N.W. Orygun
I actually bought a new Ruger in the past year which are far and few between---I prefer them broken in. In with the paperwork was a large post card with an offer "Enter To Win A $1000 Gift Certificate To Shopruger.com. Well how many of us could not use that? So I scanned the code deal and it led me the USCCA web site with a clock counting down from 24 hours. So I poked around the web site---mostly looking for what it costs---this is well buried in the site. Apparently the clock counting down is an offer to join that will expire in 24 hours. What are we selling here used cars---offer only good for 24 hours---right. At some point I entered my e-mail address to enter the giveaway, closed the site and went on with life. Immediately I get an e-mail from the USCCA---no interest so just delete. Next day here comes another spam e-mail from USCCA---delete. Wonder how long this will go on? Another comes in that afternoon, then another in the morning, then another in the afternoon. So I wade through the web site and find a phone number. I gave them a call and asked them nicely to stop with the spam and remove my e-mail address from their system. Sure no problem but it may take a couple of days. Yep---next day twice a day, next day twice a day. After 5 or 6 days I am a bit annoyed. This time when I call I ask for the president of the company. He is not available, so I ask for a return call. Nope---spam continues twice a day and no return call from el presidente. Third call I have to admit I was no longer very nice. The president would not take my call so I asked for the sales and marketing manager. After I chewed his ear off for a bit, I again asked nicely to remove me from their spam list and delete my e-mail from their system. 3 days later is stopped. All in all, I received 57 spam e-mails from the USCCA. Want to know exactly how to eliminate a potential new customer---you just read perfect instructions.

Guess it all comes down to the old saying---NO Such Thing As Free Lunch.

No idea if I am still entered in the drawing. Now wouldn't that be something to end the story with.

Anytime you enter your email address in any of that type of thing you are now on their mailing list. The only way to stop it is to go to the bottom and hit unsubscribe and usually it’s in small letters buried in a diatribe of information about whatever website is. of course the other way has never put your email address in any type of form unless you’re ordering something from a company.

Sometimes the unsubscribe button is only used to show/prove it is an active email account. Which leads to lots more spam.
