Just figured I would pass this along and maybe one of you that knows these, will share a lesson with us. Is this one highly sought after??? Screaming deal or dreamer??? Would love to learn what you can teach us. If it turns out to be severely under priced and a member buys it, you can just send me the finders fee.

They are extremely collectible and if that one's authentic and in pristine condition that'a super deal according to the latest RENE price guide.

That one appears to have been listed for 30 days and no takers? A not-very-good pic taken in his lap in his vehicle? Be careful.

MAYBE an 80% gun. Assumes no box.........SN looks like one of the 744XX group.......looks like it lived under someone's front seat of the pickup for an extended time.......one of approximately 130 known of the original 258..........needs to be refinished........too much money for this observer..........

yeah. we missed one like that the old guy shotit ,all the time promised it to my wife for her collection at $1600 ( his price,we told him it was more BUT...) he passed away and his "doper" son dumped it off, whereabouts unknown, and yes I could have refinished it back to 'mint', after all, engraved guns are reblued after the engraving........ :? :roll: :wink:

AJGUNNER,

To consolidate all the good information provided above;

1. Must know serial number and must correspond to known Jerred engraved Ruger guns.

2. Condition, condition, condition as these were not meant to working guns or placed under truck seats.

3. Box as all (I believe) RSSEs (Ruger Single Six Engraved) came in special presentation case and required for max value.

Extra value;

4. Know engraving patterns, as ones done in Spain (Spanish) nearly doubles the value and All Blue adds 50% more.

If all 1,2, and 3 are positive $10,000.00 and if 4 also then $20,000.

And you need to determine all of this in a matter of hours or minutes to take advantage of finding one for sale on line like you did.

SATCOM

PS

What is value of an empty RSSE case if one were to be offered for sale?

I've seen more pics of this RSSE. As Hawkeye28 notes, looks like it has been under the pickup seat for most of it's life. It is not even 50%. But it is a Jerred number!

here is the consecutive number to that gun on Armslist.........

8) :roll:

and at that price, in that condition ,not interested, even if it is 'consecutive',,,, the gun on Armslist needs a complete 'restoration', and I have the time and the knowhow to do it, but NO need for "project" guns :wink:

Around here on Georgia Outdoors Trader there are a lot of photos like that, guys buy guns and flip them for a profit..they sometimes take the photo right after they buy it, list it up and see who bites quickly..(I may have bought a couple with photos just like that one).

Looks like 74402? Not sure about the last digit, but I am sure about the first four digits.
Yeah....in that condition, for an RSSE it is actually a really rare gun!! Most are at least 95% and the majority are much finer.
Would be a great hole filler for somebody who wants one...but not at $5K I.M.O.
