Ejector rod housing "touch up"?

Is the ejector rod housing on a Super Blackhawk Hunter stainless steel? If so how do you buff out a small "smudge" in the brushed finish? Yep, I know I'm a bit "anal"... especially about my guns, bows and trucks. :mrgreen:

I would make sure the rest of the gun received similar smudges so that the smudge on the erh wasn't noticeable. But, I have an issue about taking guns out to shoot that are too new looking, so they just sit. I prefer a little "character" to be beaten in to them.

+ 1 ... go with the grain. Stainless guns are GREAT for keeping them touched up w/ a little rub from the scotch-brite.

Yep. Just paint the darn'ed thing. Then you won't see the smudges....

I would say 99.9% of the time, YES.
Your reply has me a little puzzeled. :roll: and brings up some questions...
Does the ERH look like a different material than the rest of the gun?
Did you buy the gun Brand New?
Has someone along the line changed it out?

Keep in mind your asking us this and we don't even get a picture. But if it is a Stainless Super Blackhawk in 100% original condition/configuration, the ERH is Stainless.

Thanks for the help. I bought the gun new. Just wanted to be sure. I had read that some of the single ation housings are aluminum. This is my first Roger single action...not my first Ruger. I've used Scotchbrite pads on my other stainless Rugers for minor (and major) touchups

Oh, my camera is not all that great for closeups. I spend most of my money on important stuff... guns and accessories, archery equipment, Harley Davidson accessories and trucks. Got my priorities. :mrgreen:

THEY ARE !!!! :shock: :shock: ... on the blued guns, go figure... :roll:

Your good to go on your "ALL" Stainless gun. except the rear sight, it's aluminum.

either way, stainless or buffed out aluminum ( in the white) they will "clean up" and make to look like brand new, takes only 'seconds ' to do ...........

Now where is the ScotchBrite pad? By the way this Bisley Hunter is the first new gun that I have purchased since 1988. There for a while I was buying two or three a year. Must have had a "relapse". I'm afraid of what might be next.

For what it's worth. The maroon/burgundy Scotchbrite pad worked just fine. Sure am glad that I looked closely at the housing to see which direction to buff the rascal. Glad too that I thought to use masking tape where the "brushed" finish changed direction.

I hope to get the Bisley out later this week. It's so darn "purty" without a scope, I may wait a while before I install one. My old eyes are still OK out to fify or sixty yards. Elmer Keith and Skeeter didn't use scoped handguns, did they? :mrgreen:
