I have a 10/22 made in 1967
and a 10/22 International 1966

My "Field" 22 rifle is a pre-warning 10-22 Deluxe Sporter---bought used but minty---appeared to be shot very little---installed Volquartsen "auto bolt release" and extended magazine release (can't remember which brand) and added an Uzi Model A green canvas simple sling for field carry. Finally had my local gunsmith perform a trigger job as factory trigger was VERY heavy---now right at around 3 lbs... A favorite 22 fer sure!

I have a modest group of older 10/22 rifles, some wearing vintage scopes

they're fun to shoot and they sort of collect on their own

1. 1965 - Japanese Tasco #660E 4x32 on Redfield Quick Switch tip off's
2. 1971 - Japanese Tasco #660A 4x32 on Herter's rings and vintage military style claw sling (sling not shown)
3. 1967 - Texan 2 1/2 x scope, Weaver Detachable 1" rings
4. 1967 - 2 piece base only, I'll find a nice vintage scope for it someday

I had never considered these rare, but looking in RENE "probably not more than 500" made.
Question...........
RENE says these have a " 4-point checkering pattern (also know as 1-point)" for the 10/22SPC and for the 10/22XC, a "5-point checkering pattern (also known as 2-point)"
Any pics of the difference?

I said I was done at 10-10/22, then another would show up.

Sweet! I don't have any rare ones anymore - I have owned an International (early one) and a fingergroove sporter. Have given 10-22s to grandkids. I just have three now - a pre-warning deluxe sporter, a standard sporter with walnut stock, and one of the newer light varmints that I'm really liking.

My one and only 10/22 is an early finger groove. In my case 1 is enough I like it a lot, but never even thought about buying another.

You should get your hands on The Ruger 10/22 book by Wm. F. Workman. The definitive book on the Ruger 10/22. Loads of great info.
