The plane he is in is a Laird Super Solution, which he raced. There has been a replica made of it which I saw at Oshkosh. It is now owned my Kermit Weeks in Florida. Had to be hell trying to see out the front.
Most associate Jimmy Doolittle with the Grandville Bros. R2 Racer., but he flew several different planes at that time period.

I don't think this racer is in the Museum at the present time. It was probably on loan from the actual owner.

Ed, I remember seeing it in the late 50s when I first went to the museum.
We lived in Sidney at the time

That was just a small part of his outstanding life.
