The title was just a joke. Tnough I do think one of mine is tying to kill me. This is the second time this week I've tripped over this dog and it's happened before to me Juanita and Renee.. Now in all fairness she's an old lady , but she likes to lay right in the intersection oh the hallway, kitchen and living room . She just flat refuses to move.
Monday evening she got me as I went to step over her , she decided to jump up and move and hung my foot on her back and down I went .She got me again just now. Same deal as before . I pulled a muscle in my back the first time and banged up my left knee . No new injuries this time but the muscle in my back is RAGIN right now .
No since in going to the doc, he'll just tell me what I already " you've pulled a muscle in your back " now pay me my $75.00 co pay .
I love the old girl, I really do and I know she don't have long with us , and I'm not looking forward to that day when she goes to Rainbow Bridge. She's almost 15 years old going blind and loosing her hearing, but that seems to be selective at times, like when we let her outside and she doesn't want to come back inside .You call her and those ears go up so I KNOW she hears me , but she just ignores me and I have to go and get her. So we'll just deal with it for as long as she's with us , but it's frustrating and in this case painful .
I'm not complaining or mad or venting, just wondering if any of y'all have had this type of thing happen with your older dogs .
She is well trained , but I guess getting stubborn in her old ago .
Well gonna go now and get a cold pack and kick back in the recliner , take a couple Advil and try to watch something on T.V. that will take my mind off the pain in my back.
Your Friend,
Lou

I don't think she hates you, more like she is just getting set in her ways in her old age.
My dog doesn't hate me, sometimes I get distracted and trip over him as he wants to be close by my side and I forget he's there. Hope your back gets to feeling better.

Sometimes that is a good thing! Couple of weeks ago went to step
over my dog and the darn thing got up to move while I was stepping
over him. Almost a disaster! lol He's only 95lbs. That was in Nov at
the vet he always puts on a few in the winter. ps

I had my old girl ( she's gone now, RIP Poco ) do the exact same move. She broke my left leg, the night before I was to leave on a bowhunting trip. She also developed that "selective hearing". Could hear something hit the food dish from a block away but, couldn't hear her own name 100' away. I sure do miss her. Pop a cold one, kick back, and give her a scratch or two. It'll help you heal.

Yeah, after laying on the floor for 5 minutes before I could move,I got up and checked on her.
She gave me this look like she was saying " were you walking with your eyes open or were you using the force" LOL. I gave her a pat on the head, she licked my hand, all is good.
She's fine andSTILL laying right were she was this morning.

Our old black lab used to do that. She would lie right in the intersection of all the rooms so she could keep watch on everyone without getting up. Lost her three years ago.

A breed thing. My Britt's would wait until you were half over'em, then panic and jump up. My Labs don't even care if you step on their tail.

Evidently my lab-husky mix hates my guts big time! Even after I always share my lunch with the big lug, give him a thousand hugs a day, and gently, step over his comatose ass as he naps beside my desk. His chief weapon of mass destruction is the deadly doggy butt gas device.

One shot and the room clears.

Seriously I love this bone head and he loves me back. As long as I share lunch!

Well, my Jessie girl LIKES to lay right in the middle of any passage way. At night she likes to lay in front of the bathroom door (where the breeze of the AC can hit her. Only problem is when you have to make a QUICK trip to the bathroom for a bladder alarm and try it in the dark. You accidently kick her, trip over her or anything and you get this LONG reproachful look as if saying "You don't love me anymore". Dang spoiled rotten , right hand seat companion on any drive.

I sometimes think that when trying to bath them. Two golden retrievers and both think that bath time is a good time to make like it is a water park and play time. I think I get as wet and soapy as them. They are just some lovin' mutts!

Oh, Lou, I feel your pain.

Tripped over my fur kid more than once when she lept to her feet while I was half over her. Sprained a foot and big toe doing that last summer. Chiropractor fixed that right up, one visit. If Iris is not on the bed with me she is right by the side where I would step out of bed. If I have to "visit the facilities" in the middle of the night I launch myself over Iris and try not tripping over the cat who by then has gotten in my path. They both think I need company in the bathroom too. Apparently Mom needs supervision....in the middle of the night...in the bathroom...SIGH...AUDIENCE FOR ME!

Showering can be interesting as Iris tries to join me if I don't get the shower door closed quickly enough while getting in. She is a standard poodle and being a water retreiving breed they enjoy water. To give her a bath I put on shorts open the shower door and point inside she walks in and I get in with her to shower her down. Easy as pie!

I hope your back feels better soon, Lou!

Lou, walk around her as best you can, but lean down and give her a pat or two on the head just to let her know you remember you are the best friend she's ever had and you still appreciate her.

Old, stubborn, set in their ways! Morgan was 15 this Spring, a Kuvasz/Husky mix ( an accidental breeding of our purebred Kuvasz, and neighbor's gorgeous Husky). Morgan kept the sheep and goats safe for the last 13 of her 15 years, as her mother did before. At 120 lbs in her prime, she was a formidable opponent to man or beast. She was down to 90 lbs., still eating well, but had blood in her urine that anti-infectives did nothing. Her hips were shot, and basically walked on her front legs( rear ones looked good, but no weight bearing). For the last 2 weeks she was whining and barking out in spite of doubling pain med. Urinating and defecating in the house( this from a dog with a 20 hr bladder before) even when given a chance to go out every 1-2 hrs. I put her down last Wednesday. The proud girl was hallucinating( watching things toward the ceiling I didn't see), and after urinating on self would look guilty/sheepish. It was time for her to travel the Rainbow Bridge to be with her mother et al. RIP Morgan. Yes, as a Kuvasz trait of everything in its place ( her idea of place), it was accentuated as she aged.

Gramps,
Know that she's in good company, my Gretchen, Remeo, Sassy, Zeke, Jessie, and Bear. I can just see them now though though misty eyes running ng and playing and just having a blast in general

My dog is AKC registered Beagle and is now 8 years old he has always been very stubborn but from what I have read it's a characteristic of the his breed, he won't move either if he don't want to, guess I spoil him to death, dogs life's are so short and they are with us for such a short time I try to enjoy every moment of them I can and over look their faults.

Yeah me too
I think their God's way of showing us the meaning of unconditional love in the flesh and their short time we have with them makes one realize just how precious that is.
