Do Hogue stocks free float, or support the barrel?

Are 10/22's built with Hogue overmolded stocks free floated or supported barrel? Any difference between the skinny barrel and target barrel versions? Also, on the SR22 (rifle) is there any structure inside the hand guard which provides support for the barrel in any way?

The Hogue 10/22 stocks are exactly like the factory stocks in terms of supporting the action.... the contact is the receiver and the barrel screw. There may or may not be forearm contact beyond the barrel screw, just like a factory stock with the barrel band removed.

The two offerings differ in the diameter of the barrel channel.... you can put a standard barrel in a .920 stock, but not vice-versa.

Not having looked at an SR22, I can't be certain, but I'd be willing to bet that the bottom of the receiver is supported, just like a 10/22.

The SR22 has a v-block barrel support at the front of the handguard (held in place by the front sling stud), but most owners find better accuracy with it removed.

Thanks. I am not moa obsessed and prefer a supported barrel just as a precaution against rough handling. I thought buying a new 10/22 would be a piece of cake but I am making myself crazy trying to figure out WHICH one. I think I am about to end up in a situation where 1 is too many and 10 aren't enough!

Good Lord !!!! Do you plan on using it as a prybar to lift a pickup truck ??

The 10/22 without a barrel support on the forearm is more than robust enough to stand up to anything within the realm of reasonable.

The only thing I've noticed about my hogue stock that I don't like it's the bipod rail I have attached isn't as secure as is like it because of the rubber overmold.

I've got one of the hollow hard-cast Hogues with a large diameter (but veryVERY light) carbon fiber barrel, only contact is the receiver mount & the stock screw.
