This is for my sleeping porch, I realized last week it was stuck on 80 degrees and so I changed the batteries.... last night I decided it was a tad too hot to sleep outside.... thermometer said 86.... so I slept inside and when I got up this morning it said the temperature on the porch was 101. The roof top weather station was reading 76 and so something was not right. I brought the sending unit in, changed the batteries and even took it apart trying to find and adjustment....now it is reading 5 degrees off... but I think if I put it back out in the heat it will vary even more.... can't figure out what changed.....

I have had several wireless thermometers over the years. None of them ever lasted more than a couple of years even though they were protected from rain, snow, and direct sunlight.

Thermometers are far too specific. The weather guessers add in heat index and wind chill to increase the discomfort of normal weather temps.
I operate under this format: There are 5 temperatures--really cold, chilly, comfortable, hot, and hot as h3!!.

Had one of those once about 15 years ago. Mounted the outside unit under the porch eave. A barn swallow thought it would make a great platform for a nest about a year later. I didn't notice it until I started seeing bird crap all over the porch deck. :mad:

I have had an Acurite system install for years and, other than changing the batteries a couple times each year, has been flawless. The date is incorrect because I didn't change it properly but the rest of the information is correct

We have a La Crosse unit. Bought the original unit about 15 years ago, and the batteries would eventually exude their junk onto the terminals, requiring me to clean said terminals and replace the batts. Finally, a month ago it happened again, but could not save it. (I believe the battery crud got into/onto the circuit board). So I replaced both inside and outside units, purchased from Amazon. Considering its service life and where it was used (home, travel trailer, fridge, etc.) I love it.

Yep, I happen to like the logitech ergo one. They last a few years then I buy another. You just have to accept that the days of a 20 + year old Maytag are gone forever.

Every time I renew my membership in NRA they promise to send me that backpack or other goodies but I have never gotten any of it.

That looks just like the one I have. As a matter of fact, I just put new batteries in it last night. Mine's about 4yrs old now.
