My gun range has their annual bbq for members last weekend. It was supposed to be in October, but got rained out a couple times. Anyway, last year I won an AR15, and this year i won a Mossberg Plinkster in 22. But, I have enough 22 rifles and pistols and had been thinking of a target 9mm pistol.

I could apply the amount from the Mossberg to another gun so heck, why not? The Dan Wesson government sized Vigil came home with me. I don't have a 1911. Well I did, in .45 but could never come to like it. Hopefully this one in 9mm will be different.

My only complaint is, it just looks like any other mil-spec 1911 out there. But! Holy cow, the trigger is extremely light. I did dry fire it once, well twice, but that's what sold me. I tried the Beretta 92 in 9mm and it's trigger was mushy by comparison.

Does Dan Wesson have a good reputation? I know they are owned by CZ and I've got a couple of their pistols.

I'm going shooting this weekend, I'll post some pictures when I get back.

I can only speak to the one I have, but my CBOB is VERY nice.

Two things that bothered me (and easily cured).
1) There were many sharp edges where I didn't want sharp edges.
That took me a few months to fix (I do it VERY slowly - - easy to take
the excess off, but ding-dang hard to put it back on) :D

2) The over-travel screw, which was supposed to be done with Loc-Tite,
seems to have not been done on clean metal (oil). Once I cleaned it,
adjusted it to DW specs, and put fresh Loc-Tite on, has never changed
since.

Very accurate, and a pleasure to shoot. :D

YMMV, but I'm more than happy with mine. 8)

I bet you're going to love it. I just had to look up the Vigil and now I want one. I think Dan Wesson has a good reputation. I'd be interested in a range report and pics.

Thanks, I will post a range report. Like I said. It was between this one and a Beretta which Wison Combat has gone through and improved. Both were around the same price, the Dan Wesson was slightly used, but looks almost brand new with case and all the papers. The Beretta just had a trigger which had a lot of take up slack which felt mushy. I’m it sure if that’s the proper term but I’ve never shot a Beretta.

Good score Kevin! Dan Wesson’s are considered good guns, and so is Cz. It shouldn’t hurt to dry fire. Check what the manual says. Enjoy!
gramps, who never wins neat stuff

First the disclaimer-I have never shot or owned a Dan Wesson 1911. They have a great reputation. Congratulations on the new pistol.
