"D" DUplicate Subscription Guns

Was wondering if anyone has heard of a subscription gun that has the D stamped before the serial number?

Figure if such an animal exists it must be really rare, and of potential greater value or maybe not.

The gun in question is not a single, but there are other guns with the same last numbers, so part of a set of guns.

Was wondering if anyone had heard of such an "animal"?

Yes there is. I have a mark ll with a d prefix. I would have to look but I think it is number 148.

Probably occurs as a result of the original gun being inadvertantly shipped and not recoverable(Buyer will not return). SN holder demanded a similarly numbered gun and had the contact and or clout with the Company to get them to run a D gun for the Subscription series.....I requested same on a number of occasions but the requests were refused. Could have also occurred if the original build gun was destroyed in the manufacturing process............. :idea:

RPM, you are probably thinking of your MK4 serial number 18-00195D.
The story I heard on that one is that the employee complained that he didn't get his number in the Mark II (as Hawkeye#28 surmises) so the factory made him another gun with his number, only put a "D" after it. Most collectors would have liked that, but not this employee I heard. He soon sold it to a collector who did appreciate it!!

Chad, Yes the number on my D gun is 18-00195D. It is the same one listed in your reference manual. I just did not have any of my serial numbers handy when I first responded. I wish the factory would make up D guns for us subsciption number holders for the SR9C that they let slip out.

Ditto on the Vaquero (large frame) that we didn't get.
I'm thinking we got the SR9C...will have to look. Don't think we got the SR40C yet.
And I know they let the LCR .357 Mag. get out :x
Yes...its a different Ruger today.

We were "kinda" promised the RS10 and the SR1911 for the last month.........Nothing yet,tho 8)

Don't think you ever sent me a note on those. They have "D" prefix serial numbers? Would be the first I've heard of...please send me a PM

Hawkeye#28 mentions requesting a D subscription replacement for one the company shipped.

I was just indicating I'd like the same deal for the gold labels I should have got but never did.
