Customized Redhawks! Lets see them!,

Ok people, I have a strange affinity towards CUSTOM Redhawks. That being said , if you have one......show it! And if it lives In a custom holster,every better. I am asking the powers that be ,that a 4 inch Redhawk in .357 needs to be put in production! Or(*gasp*) a 3 1/2" barrel .357! If I could learn how to post pics, I would!!! Where's a 7th grader around here...........???

Short Barrel very nice! Mine aren't customized but I did put the old style grips on them. Both are 4" one in 45 and the other 44. The holsters are custom and work really well.

Not as ornate as Short Barrel's but I like it! Customized by 300 Gunsmith in Denver, it has a super smooth action, Magnaport muzzel break and is more accurate than I can hold. One of my favorite guns!

Jack Huntington built this revolver about 25 years ago, on a Redhawk in .44 Magnum -- the build was inspired by the late (gunsmith) Andy Cannon who built .454 conversions as early as the mid-'80s, using stock Ruger .44 mag cylinders. The barrel is aftermarket -- not sure the brand, but the cylinder was rebored and despite being shot heavily over the last quarter decade, it has shown no premature wear. The finish is Guncote. I had the pleasure of shooting and testing it (as did Lee Martin), and it was an absolute pleasure to shoot even with full-tilt Casull ammo.

So that is a standard RH 6 shot 44 mag cylinder bored out to take a 454? I thought that was specifically a No-No as the steel used was not quite up to scratch for full tilt 454 pressures. That was the reason they went to the Carpenter 465 alloy on the 454 and 480 SRHs.

Don't confuse adequate with Ruger's standards. The material is obviously up to the task, but Ruger has their own crieria. You will never see a single-action .480 Ruger from Ruger. Does this mean it is a platform that is inadequate? Nope, the custom builders have been converting to even more powerful cartridges fro decades. It is a platform that simply doesn't meet Ruger's strength standards.

Started as a 9.5" SRH. Jim Stroh chopped the barrel/re-crown, did one of his awesome action jobs, bead blasted the finish, and installed his front sight.

Not the most attractive gun that I own, but it shoots great and packs well.
