Buckeye
I have divested most of my collection of number #1s in recent years, just keeping a few factory-made favorites and many of the custom models I have had made.
I have not missed any of them much -- except for the .375 H&H black pad with classy wood that a buddy of mine snatched up. I have had a bad case of lingering second though s over that one ever since it left the door and its companion, 300 H&H, looked so alone in the safe. (More to the point my fantasy Africa hunt rested on those two rifles and the missing .375 was an inescapable constant reminder that it would most likely never happen.)
Sooo, on learning that my buddy was also cutting back, I made him an offer he couldn't refuse and he agreed to sell it back. He came to my house with it yesterday and I mentioned I was taking my 1B rechambered to 338 Federal 1B to the gun show for sale on Saturday and he took it in trade rather than the cash I offered. So much for cutting back....
Hurray! Now if I win the lottery and get my knee fixed....
I'll not miss the 338 Federal as I still have a .338 06.
