I have done a search ( I know how important that is for newbies) and cannot find a specific answer.....When you mount a CT on a pistol, do you have to calibrate it? I don't have mine yet and was wondering - can I do it myself or is a special tool involved?

Yes, there is a teeny-tiny allen key that comes with it to adjust the windage & elevation. Mine came sighted in for 25yds...way to far for SD purposes IMHO, so, I rezero'd it for 7-10'...it is a bit off when I shoot it at distances....but it is a 2.25" EDC SD snubbie...not a target pistol!

Thank you! I think tageting for a short distance is a good thing too....

I gave the CT's on my SP101 a good work out this week. We had some carry gun fun at the club after our weekly bullseye competition. Even weak handed I was hammering the target at 7 yards. They shut the lights off and there was only some ambient light from the observation room. We did nightstand type drills. We put our backs to the table, spin, pick up the gun and fire 5 rounds in 5 seconds.

They are worth every penny.

Sounds like fun and that is a good drill.

I have the CT grips on my Ruger .357 GP100. This is a 4" barrel gun with adjustable OEM iron sights.

It is my SD handgun, and as soon as I took possession of the new gun, I adjusted the iron sights so that POI coincided with POA at 7 yards, using my SD load,

When I later installed the CT grips, the bullet POI initially was NOT coincidental with my laser-dot POA at 7 yards. A quick session at the range with the tiny Allen wrench had my CT laser sight hitting to the same point as the iron sights.

So now my GP100 has both the OEM irons and the CT laser sighted in for 7 yard POI......and life is pretty good.

A note.......removing the CT grips for revolver maintenance, then re-installing them.....on mine....doesn't move the POI a measurable amount. But for a SD weapon, my personal rule is that any time I remove any sighting devices from my SD weapon, I must shoot and verify POI before putting the weapon back into SD service.

Good luck......enjoy.......

I just adjusted mine by adjusting the dot to right above the front sight when lined up with the rear. You should be able to adjust it with out firing it, before you even take it to the range. Ed
