Hi,

"Wow!" is right! Early in the video I thought for just a moment I saw Wyandot Jim in the Starduster... right colors, but not sure if it was the right plane! And if memory serves, Sky King had two planes in the course of the TV show, and it seems a similar twin Beech was one of them. Are my eyes and memory both playing tricks on me at the same time? All in all, pretty amazing stuff. Thanks, Scout!

Oh man... I wish I could go back fifty five years to NW Alaska. You can't know how much I miss flying up there, back in the '60s when there were few airports at the villages and no helicopters to pull your chestnuts out of the fire if you screwed up. Back finding your way around meant learning the country, the rivers, creeks, moutains and other landmarks, not just turn on a GPS. It's too easy now. Pilotage is an extinct ability now.

Pilotage - meaning finding your way around by recognition of terrain features. I miss the smell of 80/87 avgas mixed with the redolent odor of hot oil. On warm days the residual smell of butyrate and nitrate dope on the fabric was far better than any perfumer ever crated.

Airshows always stir my blood. Been to a lot of them and loved them all especially the Oshkosh fly in. It's a pity my time has passed, it was so good. I'm a lucky guy.

There will always be stunt people out there like me, who will push the envelope.. Simply because we can.. It's the rush we get from it..

I would have been happy to do a stunt like that.. Only I would have been like, "HEY! I've got an idea!" "Let's put a couple of guy's on the wings."

But then, I once had a Director who watched me do a stunt, and he made the comment to somebody, "That guy is freaking crazy!"

To which a buddy of mine replied without missing a beat, "Where the hell you been? People in the industry have known that for years.. Your just NOW figuring that out?"

Three other people laughed and nodded in agreement..

There is nothing, like a rush of adrenaline in the morning, to get the blood pumping..

Yes they are daredevils, and I will bet that the crowds ate that up, those props did some great moves. And the rocket truck was a nice touch, I will bet people went nuts when they saw that.
