Yesterday's trap reset was worthwhile. We had a big male yotie in one trap this morning. He'd only been in the trap a few minutes when I was out checking just after first light and was pretty 'fresh'. I was concerned it might pull out if pushed so I popped it from about 100 yards. This is the primary reason I carry the suppressed 17HMR. 100 yard bullet placement is not difficult as long as the animal isn't jumping around too much.
It's sort of surprising how that little 15.5 grain bullet can lay 'em out like it does.

I hear ya! I keep my Ruger .17 HMR in my truck for things like coyotes etc. You are right,, it's amazing as how quickly that little tiny bullet drops a coyote, fox or groundhog.
