Convertible bearcat value

Hi guys. first off I'm not a collector, I'm a shooter. While my wife was pregnant I picked up this bearcat convertible for my son with plans to customize it. Given the rarity and value of these, Im feeling guilty about it and I think it would be better off moved to a collector and the money put towords an adjustable sight bearcat and some other toys for the boy. It is complete with both cylinders, papers, box, and outer shipper. Gun has a couple small scratches, and some dings and wear on the aluminum ejector housing. Gun has been fired with both cylinders, shot very well with no spitting from either cylinder. I'm attaching pictures below, if you guys could help me on a value I'd greatly appreciate it.





















 
What I have seen is NIB examples sell for is around the $1200 mark. Yours, having been shot, may need to be a bit under that. With the wear you described, a fair offering would be around $1000.

Maybe a fluke but the seller did well on it. Didn't know if they had jumped lately or not.
 
Well a "shooter" was on GB the last two weeks, even had the front sight filed down and it fetched $1,103.00

A year ago I would have agreed with contender....But I think $1300.00 to $1500.00 NIB in todays market MIGHT be a better number.

PS- While I don't know the man who won the gun you posted a link to personally I have followed him on GB and he KNOWS what he is buying! He had a WTB over on the RCA forum a while back for this model also.
 
Agree with Mr. Workman........Well stated. These appeared relatively long ago and few are available, and this has to be a "last of the breed" according to the serial number. I am guarding one with 3 cylinders(one mag and two LR) that is a documented factory return. While not on the market, suffice to say it would not be available for 2k..............only more, much more.
 
yep worth quite a bit and easy enough to really IMPROVE its marketing by simply putting on another, nicer ejector housing.....nice package

Have one of the bowen steel ERH for it, but that wouldn't be "correct" lol. Looking for a clean alloy housing.

Absolutely. If it were "perfect" it would be REALLY BIG BUCKS. As it is, it's an unbeatable shooter package.

I consulted the RENE price guide and considered the "used" factor. Still I can be off by a hundred or two to the right buyer.
 
With box, papers and shipper....and in the condition shown, I would guess at least $1,200 and maybe up to $1,500 to someone who "just has to have one..." Very rare and rarely available on the market.
 
A complete "real NIB condition" will bring over 2k in a real auction setting with 2 collectors bidding. This one will be in the 1,000 to 1,500 range.
 
I'll find out here shortly what they go for. I've got one I'm about to list on gunbroker myself... my nerves are shot
 
What happens to the pricing (of these convertibles) when Ruger re-issues a convertible (with or w/o adjustable sights) ??
Lots of hushed talk around the table here... 22LR/22WMRF only - no 17s in the Bearcat frame.
