I've been a Glock guy for as long as I've been shooting. (Takes big gulp of kool-aid) :D However, I recently got to shoot the SR9. I must say, I'm impressed. I especially love the ergonomics! I was wondering how durable these things are? Also, how do they stand up to high round counts? It would be used for both range and carry. Finally, this may be beating a dead horse but, has the barrel peening issue been resolved? Thank you,

I have an SR9C that has some peening. I probably wouldn’t have noticed but looked after reading posts about it. At this point I had about 200 rounds through it and kept inspecting after every range trip. It has over 1000 rounds down the pipe and hasn’t gotten worse than it was at 200. It is a sweet shooter and I’m not worried. From the posts I’ve read it seems that it will stop at some point and I’ve never read that it negatively affects the function of the gun.

+1 on what carbonyl said. I have an early SR9c (bought Feb 2010) with somewhere around 6000 rds through it. Shoots sweet and runs like a top.

iv'e at least 1500 downrange with mySR9. no issues and no noticable unusual wear. have been impressed enough to have given 3 more as gifts to family members. also bought an SR40 as go to gun.

I have at least 1,200 thru my SR9. The older one with the round mag release.
A little bit of barrel peening at first but never got any worse.
The only problem I had with this gun is the trigger.
Everything was okay until I bought the newer SR40 and it had a trigger that was so much smother and easier.
I contacted Ruger customer Service and asked them about it.
They wanted to know my S/N to determine when mine was made.
They made a modification to the trigger after Aug of 2010.
Mine was made before that and they told me they would up grade my trigger free of charge if I would send it to them.
The best 25.00 in shipping I have ever spent.

well over 3000rds down the pipe no issues, in fact I will go over 4000rds today with a qualification shoot this afternoon. The only thing I added was a rubber button behind the trigger to act as a trigger over travel stop. It took several hundred rounds for the trigger to smooth out. It points natural I could never get a glock to fit my hand like this.

I am confident you will be satisfied. I like this pistol so much I have passed my much coveted Browning HP to my son.

shoot straight and shoot often

My SR9c was produced in December 2011. 500 rounds through it so far and not a hint of peening or any other problems. The trigger has gotten way better too.

My year old SR9 has around 500-600 through it with no issues except being deadly accurate out of the box. A friend has a 1st generation SR9 (had the trigger job) with 1000s of reloads through it without a hint of peening. He told me he has had one round stovepipe on him when he was intentionally limp-wristing to test one hand shooting. I still haven't been able to limp wrist my SR9. Awesome gun. Really. I've owned many guns. The only semi I've ever owned that might be more accurate is my old S&W 639. But that is probably because I've had it since the early 90's and have put thousands of rounds through it. Ruger, Glock, S&W, Beretta, Taurus-the most reliable semi I've owned is the SR9.

You won't be disappointed. I loved my SR9c so much I bought the big brother SR9 for company and for fun competition. I don't think I have put 600 rds through my SR9 yet, but still not one issue, other than I think I am more accurate with the SR9c.
