Complicated relationships

Before I got married I had a roommate who was a cute blonde girl. Let's call her Jane. Jane had a boyfriend, Bob.

Bob had three brothers. One brother married Bob's ex-wife. Another brother married Bob's ex-fiancée. The third brother married my roommate, Jane.

To me this says a couple things. First, Bob was a butthead. Secondly, Bob had good taste in female companions.

The last I heard, Bob cut off all communication with his family.

FWIW, Jane was a bridesmaid in my wedding.

I think we all know people like that. I know that I had a few friends with families like that. Always something going on. It was all too much drama for me. I like my life boring. Plus it takes less energy.

Here is one for you. My wife's Dad and his brother married sisters. My wife's mother passed away, and her uncle passed away. Then her Dad married her aunt. That gets very hard to explain to someone.

That is very close to my wife’s grandmother and her second husband/ cousin in law

Not from Pennsylvania but from Iowa. Both families had a lot of kids so then there were cousins/step brothers and so on. I remember when I first married into the family and we would have a gathering and my wife's Dad and his brother would sit out on the back porch for hours, just the two of them, and not even talk to each other. They thought they were in good company and there was no need to.
