I'm bored, and not much going on today, so here's a little something y'all might be interested in from my good ol' days in the Corps. :)

I've concluded that it's time to be moving beyond the politics and the usual prepper stuff, to useful info after the SHTF.

Y'all military guys might remember this, and may be useful for the civvies among us. This is about "knowing the enemy" as Sun Tzu advises.

Who, What, Where, When, and How many. The essential questions to answer for combat intel. Each one expanded in as much detail as possible. For example (not all-inclusive):

Who: Regular military, civilians, insurgents. Formation seen if any, including flankers, patrols, etc. Unit id if known. High value targets?.
What: Equipment, vehicles, or other transport/armor (including animals), small arms, crew served, etc. Fortifications, Command and control, comm, defensive measures.
Where: Location, direction of travel, speed, terrain features/landmarks, listening posts, etc..
When: Date & time observed
How many: Applies to and expands on Who, What & Where.

Who: radicalized Islamic and anarchist youths, many who live in virtual world of violent video gaming
What: any opportunity to cause chaos or property damage or death of as many civilians as possible per every effort striking fear and oppressive government responses limiting personal freedoms. They are highly mobile, steal or obtain weaponry by any means and are becoming proficient at IED construction and utilizing natural gas, propane, motor fuels or poisons for bigger damage on soft targets.
Where: any time, any place, insurgents are especially selective of "gun free zones and defenseless citizens not capable of repelling the attack.
How Many: More join their ranks every day and right now there are enough to cause simultaneous attacks in many urban areas at the same time through coordinated strikes. Sabotage essential services, cause forest fires, structural fires, pipeline leaks, train derailments, destroy communication and electric grid.

Numbers, my man, numbers. Eyes on. What you posted is not Combat intel. :)

I am not military personnel or retiree, so I have not been properly schooled in anything other than "Backwoods country boy big ole can of whoopass combat technique."
Which many members of this forum are also alumnus of, what we lack in military protocol, we make up for in squirrel eye accuracy with long range weaponry and old fashion meaner than a sack of hot rattlesnakes hand to hand skills.

I'm thinking what's coming will be a real mish mash fighting/war situations and techniques. It will be messy and deadly as it develops. Must be ready for anything at anytime. Communications will be haphazard and sloppy as "sides" and factions form up.The Bosnian war showed that there are 3 things you must have as they are useful in their own right and will double as "money" as things go along- they are guns, ammo and toilet paper! Each one will be of utmost importance, depending on the moment.

S - size
A - activity
L - location
U - unit
T - time
E- equipment

A million has been allowed in on Zeros watch, plus what ever has come in over the border. If 10-12% have been radicalized that's 100-120K Minimum probably more. They are known to travel in smaller groups 2-6, they plan ahead, gather data on their target and go in ready to roll.

Some good comments, but I hope that y'all understand I was offering some advice regarding Combat Intel, not generalized non-actionable WAG's. There is a difference, even for the "Backwoods country boys with a can of whoopass". The objective is to pick your fight, not let the fight pick you. :)

What I remember from my limited military training was that if your patrol is ambushed and you actually realized you were being ambushed (not dead) then the best chance of survival was to meet on the other side of the ambush... in other words attack it. It sounded absolutely nuts to me but from a civilian standpoint considering an active shooter situation, this makes sense.

I met-up with a guy from high school ( we were class of '68) at community college in the mid '70s. I hadn't seen him since '68. He was drafted and served as a grunt in Vietnam with the 5th Mech Inf. He was in a group of ten that was ambushed. He survived but either 4 or 6 others (can't remember which) did not.

...sorry for getting off-topic

When it comes to Combat, very little is "off-topic". :)
