Anybody here know a little about these 6" nickel "DA41" Colt revolvers?

The current owner thinks it's an "M1877" but from looking at pics on the internet I'd say it's something like an 1892 New Navy. The original grips are broken and have been replaced with a set of eBay scored black plastic Colt grips.

It's about 85% condition. If the serial number is on the butt, it's 228188.

Did they make hundreds of thousands of these? Are they common? Scarce? Run-of-the-mill? Good collectors item or investment in the $350 range?

Never had anything Colt before so any help would be appreciated.

HI !! I know very little about them but here is a picture of a Colt DA .41 that I made a set of grips for a few weeks back. This one is owned by a guy who wanted it prettied up just to have one in his collection. It was a rust bucket and the timing is soooo bad there is no way I would attempt to fire it if one could find ammo.

Yep, that appears to be the same gun I'm looking at. I've fired this one though and it shoots quite well.

Looking at some "old Colt sites", here's a photo of a similar one to the one posted above - a Colt Model 1895 Double Action Revolver.

Here's my 1878. A few were made in 41 Colt This is a 45.

An 1877 Lightning (38 Colt) Sheriff's Model.

An 1877 Thunderer (41 Colt)

Hope the pics help!
