My dilemma. Been collecting Ruger Mark II pistols for a few years. But now getting harder to find scarcer models needed. My dilemma is what to collect now. I prefer rimfires. Last 2 gunshows I picked up a RSS4X and a 10/22 T/TS. Either would be a good start to another rimfire collection. Either one would work with my Mark IIs but leaning towards the 10/22s as I think they would go better with my Mark IIs as they are both semi-auto. Any thoughts from 10/22 or Single Six collectors out there.

Nothing wrong with the 10/22 approach, but there are a blue gazillion Single-Six variations out there to find. Getting them all in "pristine" condition with boxes, et al, would be a challenge. You have an excellent start with the RSS4X.

As a good friend of mine once told me, "Collecting is like trying to wipe your butt with a hoola hoop, there is no end to it". My advice for what it's worth is to collect what you like the best. I have been collecting the RSSs for many years and have found them to be the most interesting and the most varied types, that is the pre 72s. Just to name a few, the Spanish and Jerrod engraved, the early flat gates, early round gates, different ejection rod housings and transition parts, and of course the different cylinder/cylinder frame colors, many of the early guns come with provenance, double, three and four digit guns are also very collectible. And I think it's worth to note that the Single Sixes were the second group of guns that WBR produced starting in 1953. But again my main advice is to collect what you like and see where it leads you. Happy hunting!

Great advice from above!
But, make it fun!
I have a Doctor Friend that collects Butterflies! He & his fellow collectors get together & fly to the jungles of South America & Asia for a certain hatch of Butterflies he has fun & enjoys the hunt!
I have always said I doing this until it is not fun then I will be gone chasing a different interest I am sure.

Knowing how you have collected the MKII series over the years,,, and knowing you are close to getting them all, does make the chase harder, and causes the mind to wander towards other avenues.
From what little I know of you personally,,, I think you'll enjoy the chase for the 10/22's a bit more than the Single-Sixes. Yes,,, the Six series has a lot more variations to try & find,,, and you will drive yourself nuts looking. But the 10/22's are going to cost a bit less, due to lower collector interests. But listen to ruger66 above,,, he's been after them a while,,,,,,,,,,,!

Thats why I stay pre72!! There is lots of nice 10/22's in that 64-72 and you will likely never find all of them.

YES you won't find them all because they are in RUGER66's safe already
Just buy his over flow....That's how I got some great 10/22's....RR
