Forgive a Newbie for a Probably obvious question BUT Why is my Bisley Hammer harder to cock than any of my Old Models?? Can the NM Hammer be lessened??

Thanks

I don't have a Bisley yet, but if you have both, take a scale and measure the distance from the hammer pin to the hammer spur. It looks shorter to me, which would give you less leverage.

Be thankful the hammer spring is robust!
Yes, there are a few tricks that will reduce the "perceived" hammer pull.
Friction Reducing is Number One.

Before you do anything, you might try cocking the gun several hundred times. I have noticed that some Ruger springs will set, shrink and lose just a bit of their stiffness. Also like Flatgate says, 'Reduce Friction'.

Leverage.

Take a full size BH, a mid size BH, and a Super Single-Six all with factory springs and cock them.

The full sized BH will feel easier, the mid size BH a bit harder, and the Single-Six the hardest of all.

The reason is the height of the hammer spur. The shorter it is, the less leverage you have. So it feels harder to pull.
Same with the Bisley and SBH hammer, they sit lower so feel harder to cock.

No big deal, just use them and perhaps get a hand exerciser to increase the strength of your hand.

If you are afraid of straining your hand breaking it in; I would be glad to spend the next 20 years or so taking care of it for you!
