I've managed to score a few of the 'Clean up' Vaqueros. :D

Yes, this 'one gun a month' is a pain in the ......! One sort of appreciates the 'round up' the all the more due to the extra effort required to do it within the convoluted Ca. rules.
My VERY nice, Very Special 44 spl. flat top (THANK YOU, Harrisburg) is still sitting at a local dealer waiting it's turn. :cry:
(I did visit with it during visiting hours and made sure it was doing OK.)

On the other hand, it could be interpreted to mean that my government requires me to buy at least one a month! :D (Golly Gee Whiz, Honey, The State says 'One Gun A Month', I'm just doing what they say I have to do!)
(Unfortunately, they do not do 'roll over' months, like the cell phones, where if I don't buy one this month, I can buy two next month. :cry: )

I still don't think we know the whole story on these 'Clean Up' guns. I suspect that Ruger has continued to cast the 'original' size Vaquero frames well after the official end of production date.

It made sense to newly cast the 1,600 44 mags because the New Vaquero frame is too small for a 44 mag.

They may be casting new frames in order to use up old parts, such as cylinders and grip frames, that were still in inventory.

They may be just 'messing with our heads'. :shock:

We need an 'inside man' to explain what's really going on. 8)

That's exactly what I've been wondering. There've been four different "Last Cowboy" models which were supposed to be the last of the last, and after those 1,600 .44 Mags came out which were again supposed to be the last of the last, there have been almost another 1,500 other old Vaqueros made of "other" different models. Wouldn't surpise me if Ruger gets to the 59- prefix on the model series shortly.
And...how about the 96/22 in .22 Mag? Discontinued several years ago yet several thousand have come out of Newport since they were dropped.
Same with some of the other models that were dropped a few years ago...like the Bisley SA models in .22 and .357.
