Class Action suit against Ruger?

Projected to be between $50 and $175 each but agree, the lowyers will get MOST of the payout.
I'm not aware of the original issue. Was it due to PII gathered during some sort of recall and then lost?

A class action lawsuit against Ruger alleges the company failed to protect consumer data during a 17-month data breach, exposing sensitive information of customers.
Background of the Lawsuit
The class action lawsuit claims that Sturm, Ruger & Company did not adequately safeguard consumers' personal information and payment card data, resulting in a significant data breach that lasted from September 2020 to February 2022. The breach reportedly allowed cybercriminals to access sensitive data, including names, shipping and email addresses, credit card information, and details about purchases made on the company's e-commerce site, ShopRuger.com.

The plaintiff, Mark Jones, seeks to represent a nationwide class of customers affected by the breach. He claims that Ruger is guilty of negligence, unjust enrichment, and breach of implied contract. The lawsuit demands a jury trial and requests both declaratory and injunctive relief, along with actual and statutory damages for all class members.

Appears to focus on those who purchased from the ShopRuger feature, thus providing personal info like name, address, payment info, etc.

Part of the suit claims that this lost info could set you up for a home burglary as a firearm owner.

I got the notice myself a while back.

Anytime there is a big company,, somebody is going to try to sue to get money so they don't ever have to work again. Settlements are how that works.
And of course,, a gun company is a prime target for people to sue, as well as try to get data from.

I remember this, as I had made a purchase from shopruger.com, then a short while later, I got an email from the electric company stating that my autopay electric bill payment had been declined? 🤔
I immediately contacted my Credit Union who issued the card, and they said my data had been breached, and they had deactivated my debit card, and would be sending me a new one shortly.
Kinda pizzed me off, but I had another bank issued card available, so I got over it.

Yesterday, I received a notice that I may be a 'settlement class member' involving a September 2020 'data incident'. Too far back for me to remember. Anyone else receive this notice?
Got my check yesterday for $175.00 for the Ruger and Freestyle Software, INC data Incident Settlement! Don't recall the details or when I first received any notice on this Class Action but will take the money!
